Clinical Presentation.

  • Hair loss (telogen effluvium)
  • Brittle, ridged, or slow-growing nails
  • Nail discoloration
  • Hair texture changes

Mechanism. Hair and nails are metabolically active tissues with high nutrient demands. Chronic illness, nutritional deficiencies, and stress can disrupt hair growth cycles and nail formation.
