Ongoing and Planned ME/CFS Research Studies
This appendix catalogues major ongoing and planned research studies in Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS). Each entry provides structured metadata—principal investigator, institution, registry identifiers, cohort size, and study focus—followed by a brief discussion of the study’s potential to advance ME/CFS understanding.
Data sources. Entries were compiled from ClinicalTrials.gov, the ISRCTN registry, institutional announcements, and the Solve ME/CFS Initiative trial tracker. Registry identifiers (NCT numbers, ISRCTN numbers) are included where available.
Currency. This registry was last updated on 2026-03-07. Study status information may have changed since that date; readers should verify current status via the URLs provided.
Scope. The registry includes studies that are actively recruiting, enrolled, or in analysis as of the currency date, plus selected planned studies with confirmed funding. Completed studies with published results are covered in the main text and Appendix Annotated Bibliography of ME/CFS Literature.
This registry is necessarily incomplete. Smaller institutional studies, industry-sponsored trials in early phases, and studies registered outside ClinicalTrials.gov or ISRCTN may not be captured. Inclusion does not imply endorsement of study design or methodology; exclusion does not imply irrelevance.
